Emergency crews responded in Newton Thursday after a tractor trailer crashed into a utility pole in town. SKY7-HD was over the scene near Braeland Avenue and Langley Road shortly before 4 p.m. where the truck could be seen surrounded by tangled power lines. The pole itself was split in half. Eversource and police crews remained on scene as the truck remained stuck around 4:30 p.m. Langley Road was closed to motorists and some traffic lights in the area were without power.This is a developing story; stay with 7NEWS on-air and online for the latest updates.

OceanGate suspends operations after its Titan submersible imploded on its way to the Titanic

Contacted for additional information, a spokesperson declined to comment further. Among those killed in the implosion was Stockton Rush, the submersible’s pilot and chief executive officer of the company.Investigators believe the Titan imploded as it made its descent into deep North Atlantic waters on June 18. The Coast Guard said last week that human remains have likely been recovered from the wreckage of the submersible and are being examined by medical officials in the U.S. Remotely operated vehicles, known as ROVs, were used to retrieve the debris from the ocean floor about 12,500 feet (3,810 meters) underwater and a ship later brought pieces of the wreckage to a port in Canada to be examined. PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — An ombudsman office in Haiti denounced Thursday what it called the “unacceptable slowness” of the Haitian investigation into the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse nearly two years after he was killed.The Office of Citizen Protection, an independent government agency that investigates complaints against public institutions, noted that while the case has barely budged in Haiti, U.S. authorities have arrested 11 suspects and convicted one of them already. WINNIPEG — A Manitoba grand chief said Wednesday she will continue to push for a landfill search for the remains of two slain women, despite being rejected by the Manitoba government.“I hope that the premier and province of Manitoba reconsider their decision,” Grand Chief Cathy Merrick of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs said Thursday.“It is a human act of compassion and justice that (the women’s) remains be returned to their families for a proper burial at their home community.”Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran are believed to have been killed last year in Winnipeg. WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. officials granted full approval to a closely watched Alzheimer’s drug on Thursday, clearing the way for Medicare and other insurance plans to begin covering the treatment for people with the brain-robbing disease.The Food and Drug Administration endorsed the IV drug, Leqembi, for patients with mild dementia and other symptoms caused by early Alzheimer’s disease. It’s the first medicine that’s been convincingly shown to modestly slow Alzheimer’s cognitive decline.
